Milan's Machining cuts straight bevel gears across a range of 1.25 Diametral Pitch to 24 Diametral Pitch (20 Module to 1 Module), with a maximum face width of 6 inches and a maximum pitch diameter of 35 inches. That pitch range covers everything from finer tooth forms used in precise, lower-load applications to the coarser, heavier tooth forms found in industrial drives and heavy equipment where torque capacity and durability are the primary design considerations.

Straight Bevel Tooth Forms
The straight bevel tooth form runs parallel to the cone element of the gear, which makes it the most straightforward of the bevel gear families to manufacture and inspect. The simplicity is an advantage in applications where ease of assembly, replacement, and serviceability matter, especially in industrial machinery, agricultural equipment, and drive systems that experience regular maintenance. Straight bevel gears are also well suited to lower-speed applications where the sliding action and noise characteristics of a spiral bevel gear are not a concern.
Cutting an accurate straight bevel gear requires precise control of the tooth form, depth, and spacing as the geometry changes across the face width from the heel to the toe of the tooth. Our operators understand those relationships and set up accordingly to maintain consistency and accuracy across the full tooth form.
